🇸🇪 NIB finances drinking water infrastructure upgrades in Stockholm

• NIB has agreed on a 15-year loan of EUR 184 million (SEK 2 billion) with the City of Stockholm.
• The loan will finance investments in drinking water infrastructure, including reservoirs, pipelines and treatment systems.
• The investments form part of Stockholm’s long-term programme to secure reliable drinking water supply for a growing population.

The financing will support part of the City of Stockholm’s long-term Stockholms Framtida Vatten (SFV) programme, which aims to renovate, expand and modernise the city’s drinking water infrastructure.

The overall SFV programme responds to ageing assets, population growth and the need for greater reliability, redundancy and environmental compliance in Stockholm’s water supply system.

The loan will cover investments in the renovation and expansion of water reservoirs, new water transmission pipelines, increased treatment capacity, and the modernisation of waterworks. These measures are intended to strengthen system reliability, remove bottlenecks, increase operational flexibility and improve the resilience of Stockholm’s water supply system.

NIB’s loan is an important complement to the City’s primary funding through the bond market and supports our diversified financing strategy.”
