🇳🇴 Andøya Space: ‘We are proud to have helped make history’

Isar Aerospace has successfully developed an all-European launch vehicle, and Andøya Space has carried out its part of the launch operation safely and as planned.

The first successful satellite launch from mainland Europe has been completed from Andøya, further strengthening Andøya Space’s position as continental Europe’s leading spaceport.

“First and foremost, we would like to congratulate Isar Aerospace on a successful launch, NTNU Orbit on the first Norwegian-built satellite launched from Norwegian soil, and not least our owners. This is historic,” says Ketil Olsen, CEO of Andøya Space.

Andøya Space enabled our customer, Isar Aerospace, to carry out the safe and secure launch of its Spectrum launch vehicle.

“We are proud to have contributed to make history. This achievement is the result of extensive preparations and the dedication of many people and professional communities. We have provided the infrastructure, expertise, and operational services required to conduct launches safely and securely from Andøya,” he continues.

Andøya Space delivered the infrastructure and operational services and held overall responsibility for safety during the launch operation. Isar Aerospace was responsible for the launch vehicle and its mission.

“A launch vehicle leaving the ground is the visible moment. Behind it lies years of preparation, advanced technology, infrastructure, safety operations, and people with highly specialized expertise,” Olsen emphasizes.

“The upcoming activity is an opportunity to demonstrate what Andøya Space is capable of delivering, but also to look ahead. This is only the beginning. Andøya Space is undergoing a rapid development phase aimed at achieving up to 30 satellite launches per year from the spaceport within the next few years,” he concludes.
