Russia’s Novaya Zemlya set to host world’s northernmost mine

The Pavlovsky zinc and lead mine is set to produce 220,000 tons of zinc and 50,000 tons of lead annually, beginning in 2023.

A new zinc and lead mine in Russia’s Novaya Zemlya archipelago will create 750 new jobs and provide up to 44 billion rubles of tax revenues, regional authorities in Arkhangelsk say as the project planning phase is about to be completed.
