Norway closes its main air base north of the Arctic Circle

F-16s stationed in Bodø since the 1950s as part of NATO’s Quick Reaction Alert will fly their final mission on January 6.

Fighter jets have been stationed at Bodø since 1955 and the air base was Norway’s most important throughout the Cold War and until today.
