The incident in mid-December was ‘rapidly mitigated’ after the monitoring system detected hydrocarbons, said a spokesperson.

The City of Iqaluit’s new water quality monitoring station detected measurable amounts of hydrocarbons in one of the city’s treated water tanks on Dec. 16, just six days after the Government of Nunavut lifted its do-not-drink order.
