Finnish, Russian companies agree to pursue an Arctic telecom cable

In addition to providing a faster Europe-Asia link the cable could position parts of the Eurasian Arctic to compete as a data hub.

A new 10,000-kilometer trans-Arctic telecom cable from Finland via Kirkenes in Norway and the Kola Peninsula in Russia could become the shortest data cable connection between Europe and Asia.
