The Arctic Council approves observer status for the International Maritime Organization

The United Nations shipping organization will join four other UN bodies with observer status at the Arctic Council.

At its ministerial meeting in Rovaniemi, Finland Tuesday, the Arctic Council acquired a new observer: the International Maritime Organization.
